According to the policies approved by ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, the contact info a domain is registered with must be valid and accurate at all times. At the same time, this info is publicly accessible on WHOIS websites and while this may be OK for firms, it may not be very convenient for individuals, because anyone can view their names and their personal postal and email addresses, especially in an age when identity theft isn’t that infrequent. Because of this, registrar companies have come up with a service that hides the details of their customers without modifying them. The service is called Whois Privacy Protection. In case it is enabled, people will see the details of the registrar company, not those of the domain owner, if they perform a WHOIS search. The Whois Privacy Protection service is supported by all generic TLD extensions, but it is still impossible to hide your personal details with certain country-code ones.

Whois Privacy Protection in Cloud Hosting

You can easily enable Whois Privacy Protection for any domain name that you have registered through our company if you have a cloud hosting account with us. This can be achieved through the same Hepsia Control Panel, via which you manage the web hosting account, so you won’t need to sign in and out of different Control Panel tools. In the same section where all your active domain names will be listed, there will be an “Whois Privacy Protection” icon for each and every domain whose extension supports this service. The status of that icon will quickly show you whether the Whois Privacy Protection service is enabled for a specific domain or not and by clicking that icon you can enable the service if you have not done so upon registration. Furthermore, you’ll also be able to renew or to disable the Whois Privacy Protection service for any domain name using the same icon and the update will take effect immediately.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you’ve got a semi-dedicated server account with our company and you register a domain under it, you can add our Whois Privacy Protection service without difficulty. This requires only a few mouse clicks in the Hepsia Control Panel’s Registered Domains section, through which you manage everything related to your semi-dedicated account. This is the place where you can see all your active domains and for each one of them you’ll find an “Whois Privacy Protection” symbol, using which you can activate, renew or deactivate the service. Of course, this can be done only with generic and country-specific domain extensions that are Whois Privacy Protection-eligible and you’ll be able to see this beforehand, so that you won’t end up requesting a service that we cannot provide.
