Every registered domain has at least two Name Server records that show where it is hosted i.e. by using these records you direct your Internet domain to the servers of a certain website hosting company. This way, you have both your website and your emails managed by the exact same company. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), nevertheless, there is a variety of other records, like A and MX. The former shows which server manages the website for a given Internet domain and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the latter reveals which server handles the emails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). As an example, whenever you enter a domain in your browser, your request is forwarded through the global DNS system to the company whose NS records the domain uses and from there you may be sent to the servers of a different service provider in case you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your domain. Having separate records for the site and the e-mails means that you can have your site and your emails with 2 different companies if you'd like.

Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Hosting

The Hepsia hosting CP, that comes with each and every Linux cloud hosting which we provide, allows you to see, change and set up A and MX records for any domain name or subdomain in your account. Through the DNS Records section, you're going to be able to see a list of all hosts inside the account in alphabetical order with their related records, so any update will not take you more than a couple of mouse clicks. Creating new records is just as simple if, as an example, you would like to use the e-mail services of another service provider and they ask you to set up more MX records than the default 2. You can also set the priority for each MX record by setting different latency. Put simply, when your emails are delivered, the sending server is going to contact the record with the smallest latency first and in case the connection times out, it'll contact the next one. Using our sophisticated tool, you'll be able to control the records of your domain names and subdomains effortlessly even when you have no prior experience with such matters.
