SPF, which is short for Sender Policy Framework, is an e-mail safety system, which is designed to confirm whether an email message is sent by an authorized server. Using SPF protection for a given domain will stop the forging of email addresses generated with the domain. In layman's terms: activating this attribute for a domain name creates a special record in the Domain Name System (DNS) containing the IP addresses of the servers which are permitted to send e-mails from mail boxes under the domain. The moment this record propagates worldwide, it will exist on all DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. When a new email message is sent, the first DNS server it uses tests whether it originates from an official server. If it does, it is sent to the destination address, however when it does not come from a server indexed in the SPF record for the domain, it's rejected. Thus nobody will be able to mask an e-mail address then make it appear as if you're e-mailing spam messages. This approach is also known as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Cloud Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for every domain hosted in a cloud hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with only a couple of clicks. The feature is accessible in the Emails section of our hi-tech Hepsia Control Panel and all it takes to activate it is to select one of your domain names from the drop-down menu and type in the hostnames together with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the e-mail servers that will be approved to send email messages from your emails. As an additional option you may also restrict the messages to be sent from your domain name only when it has our MX records, i.e. when our servers handle the e-mail addresses for it, not some third-party provider. This solution gives you the top standard of security, but it is not applicable in case only your website is on our servers while your email addresses for the domain name are managed somewhere else. Either way, our SPF protection service will keep your email addresses secure from being used for spam or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The SPF protection attribute is featured with all of the Linux semi-dedicated hosting, so if you host your domain names in an account on our cloud web hosting platform, you're able to use the service with ease for all of your domains. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is included with the semi-dedicated accounts, has a really user-friendly interface, so you will not have to be tech-savvy in order to protected your emails. You will only need to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you would like to be authorized to send e-mails from your addresses and shortly after that the updated record will be activated for the domain name that you've selected. As an extra option, we'll also give you the ability to restrict your outgoing e-mail messages and protect your mailboxes even better by permitting messages to be sent only when the domain in question includes our MX records i.e. the e-mail messages for the domain have to be handled here and not by some other company. Doing so you will have even better control and there won't be any chance for someone to fake your emails for harmful uses.
